Brewing Notes

Coffee Ideas recommends a Clever Dripper or pour-over. Served at Ner.lu to Edén Uriel's competition recipe.

Brewed to Edén Uriel’s recipe

Edén Uriel, introduced by Coffee Ideas as India’s National Barista and Brewer Champion, competed at the National Brewers Cup 2026 with a Ratnagiri Estate coffee. At a Ner.lu session he explained each choice in his recipe with side-by-side comparisons of filter paper, grind size, brewer, water and minerals, and the difference in the cup was clear every time. Ner.lu then poured a limited run of Ratna Raga to that recipe.

The competition recipe

Coffee Ideas publishes the recipe for its Ratna Raga Competition Lot, the coffee it says scored highest at India’s National Brewers Cup 2026:

  • 16 g of coffee to 240 ml of water, a 1:15 ratio, for about a 2:30 brew
  • Water at 86 °C, to protect the delicate aromatics
  • Ground to espresso fineness (450–500 microns) with a Sibarist Fast filter paper, or 700–800 microns with a standard paper, while still aiming for the same 2:30
  • Four pours, running totals of 40 ml, 106 ml, 172 ml and 240 ml
  • Mineral-adjusted water, with a small dose of concentrate added to the finished brew

About this listing

Coffee Ideas sells Ratna Raga as an omni roast (Agtron 63) in 250 g and 1 kg packs, as whole beans or ground for one of nine brewing methods. The listing was sold out with no price shown when this page was written. The estate’s plants are grown under about 50% shade, and the land is fed by two freshwater streams.

Coffee Ideas’ house recipes

  • V60: 16 g of coffee, 240 ml of water at 92 °C, ground to 700 microns on an EK43S, Cafec light roast paper. Bloom with 48 ml for 50 seconds, then three more pours, finishing by about 5:00.
  • Aeropress (inverted): 16 g of coffee, 200 ml of water at 92 °C, 700 microns. Bloom with 50 ml for 50 seconds, add water in two stages, then press gently from 2:30.
  • Espresso: 18 g of coffee at 500 microns, pulled in 24 to 26 seconds. 38 ml gives a sweet, intense shot and 40 ml a balanced one.

The Competition Lot

Coffee Ideas also sells a separate Ratna Raga Competition Lot, a filter roast (Agtron 75) from producer Ashok Patre’s Ratnagiri estate. That is the lot Coffee Ideas ties to the National Brewers Cup 2026 result, and it has its own tasting notes and roast profile.
